Hey what's up? So tonight was kind of a rough night doing Uber. I worked for roughly about four and half hours. I think I made, clocked in about $63 in fares but after Uber takes their money and all that I'm looking at something around $10 an hour. But that not that big of deal, because here the thing. That $40, maybe $45, I just did a cost analysis in my journal and I'm thinking going forward, now I have a couple of sources for writers but I'm thinking It's going to cost between $50 - $70 to have a book created, cover created, marketed, promoted, everything done and everything done by someone else.
Let's say it's fifty bucks so basically tonight I spent 4.5 hours and I wrote a book. That's a good way of looking at it. The time I spent was having good conversations with people, I did a few videos. All in all I think my effort is worth the reward and that's really big for me right now. Uber is also releasing a new program that's going to start tomorrow, so I'm pretty excited about that. It's going to give me the opportunity to earn up to 380% more money or so they claim. The program is called Uber Select and the Uber Select program is only for high-line cars. So BMW, Mercedes, Audi, so on and so forth, certain Hyundai's, Genesis and Equis, Lexus. So me having a 5 series Bimmer, I guess it's a good thing. We will see how it all pans out, I'll let you know. It starts tomorrow morning at 9 am. I don't work during the day doing Uber because it doesn't seem like it's worth my time, but this weekend should be crazy and I'm looking forward to seeing how the new service works out. Hey what's up? So I just had this young kid, college kid, he was 19 and a student at Duke. Every year they do this tenting event and during this tenting event the students have to be there for certain check ins and stuff. It takes place over a month or weeks or whatever it is but they have to camp. The prize they get at the end is the ability, well a ticket. They get a ticket to the Duke and UNC basketball game. Which is a big deal, rival schools, yada yada yada. One of the things that came up during conversation is a new idea or principle that I base my life upon and it's a question. The question is "Is the effort worth the reward or is the reward worth the effort?" However you want to word it but the long and short is that in everything you do, if you just apply that principle and ask yourself that question you will start doing more meaningful things.
So I asked that guy, at the end of the day do you feel like the effort, however many hours you spent camping, wether it was cold rainy, you know whatever you had to endure, was all of that worth getting that ticket. He said he doesn't know yet because he's never been to the game. I know that and it brings me to my second point and that's reflection. So anytime you're doing something that you think in the beginning was the best idea, you were super excited, it's very easy to get distracted once you get started and hit a few roadblocks, and you start to see that the results may not be what you thought it would be, it's real easy to stop. Reflection, reflection upon the situation, yourself, whatever it will be, that self reflection can offer you the insight and get you over the hump and let you decided wether or not the reward really is worth the effort.
So this brings me to another point, which my third point would be, persistence. Anytime that we set out to do something, things happen, you know. I'm starting this new Youtube Channel, my Kindle Direct Publishing and I still have a life. I have a kid, I have a daughter who's getting big, but you know a lot of my time is spent with her. When I spend time with her, I spend TIME with her. I put everything else on hold and me and her just do whatever it is she wants to do within reason. So it's real easy to get distracted from the big picture. I know stuff comes up so that's why this factor of not giving up. I have a friend who recently was studying real hard for a test and he took the test today. It didn't go so well, he didn't see the results he was hoping to see. So he has to go back to studying and while he didn't think he was going to fail this test, stuff happens. He could easily just give up and be like... This is only his third test he's had to do or maybe his fourth but he still has more afterwords. So it would be real easy to just say, "You know what, I don't know if I can do this. I think I'm going to quit." But this individual I know for a fact will persevere and good props to you brother. Persistence is key! You know in the end once this person has put in the 100's of hours of time into studying and all of the effort into getting the certifications that he's trying get, eventually the reward will be worth the effort but you have to know where you want to know. That comes back to goal setting.
Million different key factors could go into this concept and that is why I wrote a book called Getting Results. You can check that book out on Amazon. You can just type in my name, Drew Eubanks and that'll pull up my author page. I've got about 10 different books on there as of right now. Which I wrote one and one doesn't cut it in this kind of business. One book is not going to get you a lot of money and then I wrote my second and then a third one and I wasn't seeing the results I thought I was going to get. In the end I realized it doesn't take 1 or 2 or 3 or even 4 E-books to make a ton of money. It takes multiples 20, 30, 40, 50, I know people who have 200 books and they are making the type of income that I'm hoping to make, but right now I've put in a lot of hours, like a LOT of hours trying to get these first few books, written then formatted and so on and so forth.
Learning how to promote and learning how to get reviews. And also too while I'm doing that I'm learning different systems, different groups, learning Amazon, keyword niches. There's a lot that goes into it and it would be real easy for me to be like, You know what, I gave it a try, I've been doing it for a month and I've made like, I don't even know perhaps $60-$70 so far. I haven't really spent much and you know what, I'm not giving up. I just started a new promotion for all of my books. I have seven books on promotion, I'm seeing great results. 385 free downloads yesterday, so far today 384, I just checked it and I'm pretty sure I'll get over the 400 mark and you know that's a new benchmark for me. I hadn't broke the 400 in a day, I hadn't broke the 300 in a day plateau till yesterday. So you know two back to back 300 days. Today will be 400 and I hope tomorrow is another 400 day.
You know the key is don't give up. Ask yourself is the reward worth the effort. If the reward is worth the effort then proceed. If for some reason things get tough and you feel like the reward isn't worth the effort then take a few minutes, maybe even a day depending on the decision and just give yourself some reflection and thing about what you really want in life and decide wether or not the path you've chosen is for you and you may decide that it's not. It's okay to move on and move toward different things. Learn from it, grow, and you will be a stronger person. If you decide that it is for you then persevere and you will succeed. I've seen a million of those pictures where the miners are chipping away at the rock and then he leaves. The next miner comes and he hits it one time and there's gold. You never know where you're going to find gold, so don't give up. A little bit of keys to success from an Uber car. You guys have a good night.
Hey what's up guys? I just wanted to take a minute and talk to you about something a lot of people know they should do but tend not to do, and thats keeping a journal. I, um, I recently just kinda got into where I always use my phone or my ipad or computer to right down any kind of notes. But what's happened is I'll have these great thoughts but won't feel like grabbing my phone and typing it in. So I found that having a pen and paper next to me makes that so much easier. We will call it a key to success.
Get yourself a journal and write yourself some notes in it. What I found was just having it on my desk kinda motivates me to want to do the things I should do. Wether it's checking out your goals. I've got my 2015 goals down here and I'll be going over them in a later video. But for now I just wanted to drop that piece of advice, get a notebook and anytime you have a great idea write it down. Because the littlest spark could lead into something BIG.
I ended up in my Kindle Publishing Business totally by mistake. I thought I wanted to start a consulting business for car dealerships. Ended up wanting to change that into a consulting business for people wanting to buy a car and that turned into a series of books. Which lead into more. Right now currently I have 10 books published. Launching some promo's right now and trying to build my passive income. So that's the majority of what this channel is about. Kind of motivation, self help, inspiration and I kinda wanna build a team to help everyone. Not just me but to help other people achieve the things they want to achieve and to have the passive income that allows for people to do what you want, when you want, with who you want where ever in the world you want to do it. We ended up getting a last minute request to attend an event outside of Jamestown, NY and since we had never been we thought why not! Jamestown is a pretty cool little city with plenty of character and they even have the largest I Love Lucy festival in the world. We enjoyed some great meals and made it to a comedy show in the basement of a local coffee house. All in all it was a good experience but the sale itself was horrible. Traffic was light and most people had been 5 or more events in the last 6 months. We ended up moving 7 Units and made a little check but the experiences were priceless. We were off on Sunday, so we left Saturday after work and headed to Buffalo! We had a great room with a pretty decent view. If you ever make it to Buffalo I would recommend eating at the Chocolate Bar. Everything had chocolate in the recipe in one way or another. Even our steak had a chocolate inspired sauce that was to die for! The martini's were great and the ambiance we enjoyable. Sunday morning we woke up and enjoyed a great brunch at one of the restaurants in the Roosevelt Hotel in downtown. After brunch we wondered around for a bit and realized that there wasn't much going on in Buffalo on a Sunday when there's no game. We ended up leaving Buffalo and made our way to Niagara Falls. I have seen the falls before but this time they were frozen and the lower viewing level was covered in probably 20 feet of snow. It was amazing to say the least and I'm glad I got to share it with Britni. After seeing the Falls we made our way to the casino. After winning some and losing more we decided to treat ourselves to a steak from the steakhouse in the casino. It was a very fine dinning experience and one of the best steaks I've ever had the pleasure of devouring! We then made our way back to Jamestown to finish up the last week of the sale and then returned home.
One of the biggest benefits of doing staffed events all over the US is the time off between events. Coming off of a big sale we were able to really enjoy our time off in our new city. We decided to venture out to the downtown are of Raleigh and see what kind of events where going on for St. Patrick's Day and ended up having a blast. We started out at the Hibernian in the Glenwood South area and eventually made our way to the big street party in the city center. My little girl got her face painted, we rode the mechanical bull and enjoyed the live music and cold beer! It's save to say we are happy about our move. We are loving our new city and the life we are creating!
I have to start this off by saying that Britni is a selling machine! We work so well together and what Britni lacks in experience she makes up in work ethic and interpersonal skills. Long story short we only went 2 days without selling a car and it snowed pretty much everyday. We made up for those 2 non selling days by having a couple days where we doubled down and one day we were able to score a hat trick (3 cars in one day)!
We had a lot of fun in the small town of Wabash, IN and were pleased to learn about it's history. Wabash, IN was the first electrically lit town in the United States. We had Sunday off and spent the day with the rest of the team bowling and enjoying good food! We ended up selling 11 cars in 9 days and made a fat check!
So after what ended up being a very long ride from NC to IN, only because we stopped, we finally made it. The only hotel that we could find in the area at a decent rate was actually located next to the dealership and to say the least was not very pleasant. We decided to suck it up for the week and push through. It's not like we were there on vacation! When we left NC it was in the 60's and when we woke up in IN it was -2 and felt like -14! Neither Britni nor myself had ever experienced such cold weather and we were not looking forward to set-up. Set up is when all the sales consultants that are traveling met at the dealership to rearrange the lot, book out cars and decorate for the event. We got word that the desk guy needed to be picked up from Indianapolis so we volunteered to make the 2 hour drive. This gave us a chance to see Indianapolis a little bit and stay warm while everyone else was enjoying a lot party(moving cars). We took some pictures, grabbed a bite to eat, checked out the mall and then made our way to IND (Indianapolis International Airport) and back to Wabash.
So we moved to NC and had a blast getting settled into our new home. The first sale I was able to book was a 9 day event in Wabash, IN at a Chrysler Dodge Jeep store. I spent a couple of years traveling around doing these sales so packing came second nature for me but man do things change when you are bringing a woman with you. We completely loaded down the Scion and began our trip. One of my favorite little towns along the way was Charleston, WV (the capital of WV) and we decided to stop for lunch. There's a Sports bar called Adelphia's which I frequented the last two times I did sales in the area and it was nice making it back for their Adelphia Gyro! We also stopped in Dayton Ohio and ate at a roof top restaurant right in the heart of the city. Can't remember the name of it but the food was great and the view was amazing!
So our lease was ending and we were wanting a change of scenery and thought what better move than to be closer to my little girl. Since she had started school it was more difficult to get her to Florida or we had to make a trip all the way to NC. After a lot of thought we also decided we would both head out on the road selling cars! My girlfriend had been a server for nearly 10 years and I knew she would make a great car sales woman. So we had this plan, made the move and 3 days after we arrived in NC got snowed in for 3 days. This was definitely a change of scenery for us and Brit had never been given the opportunity to play in snow!
Over the course of 2013 many trips would be made between FL and Savannah, GA. Savannah is pretty much the half way point between Raleigh, NC and Cape Canaveral, FL so it makes the perfect meeting spot to pick up and drop off my daughter. The first trip was amazing and we ended up falling in love with this little city. We both enjoy long boarding and found that it was very skate friendly, plus you can get a drink from a bar and take it togo! Our favorite restaurant is Belford's and if you ever get a chance to go I would recommend ordering the crab cakes!
For my birthday I decided to get myself a new toy. Wasn't sure exactly what type of vehicle I wanted but I was ready for something fun. Randomly got a wild idea that I wanted to go test drive a 350Z and found two at a nearby dealership. Being in the business there were a few things I was looking for, a great deal, low miles and a well maintained vehicle. The two at the local dealership where not at all what I was looking for but a quick search found a Daytona Blue convertible less than 20 miles away. It was older but only had 56K miles. When we pulled up to the dealership the vehicle was sitting right up front and I was in love. It was a surprise that it had 20" chrome wheels and they really set it off. I ended up getting it for $14K and left very happy. That same day I ordered exhaust, ram air kit and an intake plenum spacer. The car was quick before but now it's load and quick!
Since 2012-2013 where years of self improvement it would only make since that I attend a seminar or two and it was so great to have met someone who wanted to attend them as much as me! The most inspiring was the SUCCESS Seminar that included such speakers as Les Brown and Michael J Fox! MJ Fox spoke of his struggles with his disease but that he made it more of mental game to stay focused and not let it bet him. He laughed and poked fun at himself but also had some very vulnerable moments on stage. Les Brown used his famous "You gotta be HUNGRY" line and really put into perspective the importance of having big goals and never giving up! After the SUCCESS Seminar we found ourselves out and about in Orlando so we decided to do the sling shot that shoots two passengers 400 feet in the air! The view was incredible and the rush was awesome, I highly recommend it. We then road go carts, played mini golf and made our way to Ice Bar. Ice Bar is a bar that is completely made of ice, including chairs, the bar and even the glasses! Lots of fun and I think this event set the tone for the year to come!
I was enjoying being single and not traveling away from home as much. I was actually getting to know a lot of new people and had been dating several girls when out of the blue I met this one girl. We started out as friends but eventually we settled into a nice life together! I'm adventurous and she shares that same trait so we enjoy each others company and we always stay busy! The picture on the right is from the Zombie Bike Ride during our trip to Fantasy Fest 2013 in Key West, FL and the picture above is one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever experienced!
I ended up doing a few sales throughout the year of 2012 and 2013 but not in anywhere new or anywhere too exciting. Thus I do not have very many pictures during that time. Most of my pictures where during time off with my daughter, friends and family. We spent a lot of time at Seaworld Orlando and riding around with the top down. (Since I travel so much I get a lot of free rental days and upgrades!)
It's funny how things go full circle. A lot have things have happened since I started this blog over 3 years ago. I was going through a transition in my life and forgot all about this blog. Now through many changes, travels, experiences, etc... I have found myself once again interested in keeping up a social presence. Over the last 3 years I have traveled many more times to new places and have made many new memories along the way. Since I have rediscovered this blog I will be going back to where I left off and try to put up 5 or so blog post each week to catch up to where I am to date... Here's a glimpse!
